Places To Set Up A Sit In

We’re constantly on the lookout for events and causes that could use support, and we’ll share what we find here. If you know of an event happening in your area, let us know, and we’ll add it to the list!

Some events may have participants from Knot On Our Watch attending, while others might be up to you to organize in your community. We encourage you to create your own Sit-In gatherings and bring others along.

Let’s show up, stitch together, and build community.

Vigil for our Community and Our Planet hosted by Pasadena100

January 30 @ 6:00 pm8:00 pm

ACTION ALERT: Please come together for PASADENA 100’s Vigil for our Community and our Planet on Thursday January 30, 2025 from 6 to 7:30 pm in front of City Hall (Garfield side).

This date is the 2 year anniversary of the passage by the City Council of Pasadena’s Climate Emergency Resolution 9977 that mandated 100% carbon free electric power by 2030.

Back in 2022 and 2023, when we advocated for that resolution, we could not have imagined that climate disaster would strike so soon, so hard and so near. Now the loss of life and property and the evisceration of Altadena are shocking. Now the climate crisis is real. And there is no end in sight.

It is more important than ever to demonstrate our resolve to take local climate action. We must show our unity, purpose and commitment to stop using the dirty fossil fuels that have caused the fires.

And let there be no doubt. Fossil fuels are responsible for these fires. As Sammy Roth put it in the LA Times this week: “Los Angeles is burning. Fossil fuel companies laid the kindling.”

We simply must stop burning fossil fuels for our electric power and our transportation.

On January 30th, we will hear from youth speakers who will talk about their futures and the impact of the climate crisis on their lives. Please come to show them that you care and that we are not helpless in the face of catastrophe or paralyzed by national politics.

We have 5 years left to implement the 100% carbon free electric power mandate. We have already made progress, but we MUST keep going. There are technical issues that we are exploring in the Technical Advisory Panel and Sam and I will update you on those by separate email. But there are solutions and the most important element in all of this is political will. And that is about you.

See attached the flyer that we had printed before the fires. I picked them up from the little print shop (Ms. Dragon) in Altadena that always gives us discounts. That was on Tuesday late afternoon as the winds began to whip up. The owner tells me that the shop still stands, but so much around it is rubble. So the flyer says nothing about our current reality. We will try to send out a revised flyer in the next week.

Please join us. If you have them, bring battery powered candles. Bring your firm resolve.
